The Churchill Club is a not-for-profit entity that aims to drive cultural
change among Australian entrepreneurs and innovators in business, finance,
public policy and technology.

In a forthcoming Churchill Club event, Angela Beesley, Director of the
Wikimedia Foundation, will provide her insights into the future directions
for free content, wiki's and creative commons. 

Wikimedia hosts the free-content encyclopedia, Wikipedia, of which Angela
has been an editor for two years. Outside of Wikimedia, she is the
Vice-President of the newly founded Wikia, Inc. that runs the free-content
Wikia search engine, which was founded along the same principles as
Wikipedia, and is currently in beta testing, and Wikicities, a collection of
over 100 freely-hosted MediaWiki communities. Angela is a member of the
Advisory Board of Ourmedia, a grass-roots media archive which launched in
March 2005.

Angela has recently worked as a consultant for the BBC, giving
demonstrations and presentations about the use of wikis and free content
within the organisation. She was previously a researcher and test developer
for the National Foundation for Educational Research where her main role was
creating the national statutory assessments for England and Wales. Prior to
that, she was a researcher at the Aston Dyslexia and Developmental
Assessment Centre in Birmingham, now part of the Neurosciences Research
Institute. Angela has an honours degree in Human Psychology.
