The Burda Center for Innovative Communications at Ben-Gurion University of
the Negev invites research on the following issues:

·        How are different markets adapting to new digital media channels?

·        How do new digital devices impact communications, production and
consumption?

·        What makes social networks such as LinkedIn, Facebook or
MySpace.com successful?

·        How does broadband penetration impact media consumption?

·        How is the traditional concept of opinion-leaders and gatekeepers
affected by the theory of digital media communities? What role are brands
playing in this context?

·        Will mobile content shift from entertainment to more information
based content?

·        What are emerging digital lifestyles?

·        How does user generated content and "social media" impact mass
media?



Additional suggestions for research topics that touch the fields of
interest mentioned above



The selected rojects will receve a grant of up to $10,000. Researchers are
invited to submit a research proposal by e-mail or post to the Burda
Center no later than October 1st, 2006.  The research proposal should
include a succinct description of the study and the way it will contribute
to the research of innovative technologies, research method, relevant
literature, estimated timetable, required budget, and curriculum vitae.
Please state the name of the researcher in both Hebrew and English, and
mention whether the research will also funded by other sources.  Research
proposals should be no longer than 8 pages (excluding CV's).



The Burda Center maintains the right to publish research that it funds
under the centre's publications series.
